Well, its time. We just launched our Kickstarter campaign to raise the funds we need to finish filming and editing Further Along the Road: The Documentary.

I wrote a detailed (but non-technical) post about what the funds will go to on the Further Along The Road blog here.

But here is the more technical stuff:

The current HDD I have is a 3TB HDD, and it is full. I’ve optimized the footage from the road, and in order to be able optimized most of it, I had to actually delete the unoptimized versions (Some can’t even be optimized, but we are out of room!). On top of a few clips left to optimize, we have a MINIMUM of 4 hours of footage (will probably end up being closer 6-8 hours) that we have to film still, the import/optimize and edit, plus music, titles, export and render files that we need space for.

So I’d like to get an 8TB HDD so I can optimize the remaining clips, and have room for all the extra stuff we will need to add. But then we need a backup. If the hard drive I have goes down, we lose all the notes, tags, and organizing I’ve done, and while that would suck, it wouldn’t be disastrous. But once we start editing and doing the interviews, we can’t afford to lose drives.

For the interviews to sound good, we’re going to need to get a better mic, and we’ll need to get 2 of them. I’m looking to get Rode NTG-2‘s, they are great quality, and professional quality. I already have the equipment for that audio to be able to go into my camera, we just need the mics.
